Well, you all know I'm in the website business...and with that being said, I worry a lot about 'process'. I know from experience that if I don't plan out every little detail, then I can spend a lot of time and effort on a website that, ultimately, will flop. We can apply this to a lot of things in life, but for the sake of this post, it will apply to the cake 'process'. :)
First of all, with cake making a lot of it is just common sense... Yea, you need to make the cake before icing it. :) But I can make the icing before making the cake... Anyway, my official cake making 'worry' list:
- Testing. This is one area that I lucked out in. I've got Halloween, Christmas, and nephew birthdays to make cakes for. I don't plan on replicating my whole entire wedding cake prior to, but I think I can get a feel for whether or not it's a do-able task from this. And with time to spare if I chicken out... :)
- Timing. Yes, I'm planning on doing everything as far in advanced as possible. Don't worry, I won't make you all eat a month old cake. But maybe just a day or two. :)
- Storage. This one is a biggie. Unfortunately (and much to the Fat Kid's dismay), our house didn't come with a walk-in fridge. And...well, our fridge doesn't come with any kind of three tiered cake storage (I know...what gives?!!). Being that the cake will be a fondant cake, I can't put it in the fridge anyways (so says the pro's). So, this may not be a big issue. But I will have to plan a 'work' zone space in the fridge to place the tiers whilst I work...
- Day of preparation. Being that I will be a bit busy on March 20th, who will be brave enough to take the cake to the reception?
- (Number #1 worry) Will I ever have time to climb again?? waaahh
